About Us

UPDATE: WHILE I'M NOT CURRENTLY PREPARING AND SELLING FRESH, HOMEMADE BABY FOOD, I DO STILL OFFER BABY FOOD INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSES.  PLEASE SEE THE HOME PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION OR FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME REGARDING THE CLASS.

It all started with a little bit named Eden.  We were graced with her presence about a year ago and our lives haven't been the same since!  My older and wiser sister put the buzz in my ear about making your own baby food about 4 years ago when she was preparing food for my baby nephew. She handed me a book of recipes and information about it and the rest is history.  Once I realized how easy it was and how nutritional is was for my baby, I never looked back.  My first batch took about two hours to prepare on a Sunday afternoon and lasted me two months in the freezer!

Then I realized that mass-manufactured baby food had only been around since the last century.  What did people feed their babies before that I wondered?  Jarred baby food is all we know!  So after lots of exciting research and reading I realized that they just took a banana and squished it up! Our lives are much more complicated and busy than they were 100 years ago so thanks to technology (freezer!) we can prepare homemade meals ahead of time and freeze them until ready to use on demand.

Our mission at The Garden of Eden is to help you nourish and grow your baby. Research studies prove healthy eating habits form early in life.  Start by setting a great example by eating fresh, whole, healthy foods yourself. The best case that I've come up with besides the nutritional value is that if you wouldn't eat baby food that comes from a jar, then why would you expect your little one to eat it either.

So start with the right foods at the appropriate age, like fruits and vegetables. Fresh foods are best, so cook from scratch whenever possible. And when you can’t cook from scratch, enjoy HOMEMADE BABY FOOD straight from your freezer. We are the ONLY baby food brand in Baton Rouge so you can be assured that our ingredients are fresh from the vine and LOCALLY GROWN.Our wholesome family recipes are cooked fresh daily using the finest certified Organic Ingredients and/or locally grown produce

We offer DAIRY FREE and GLUTEN FREE products as well. All foods are cooked fresh and flash frozen to lock in the nutrients and delicious fresh food flavors - so your baby enjoys the benefit of a nourishing homemade meal even if you didn't have the time to cook it yourself!

By feeding your baby fresh food, it ensures that your baby will develop healthy tastes for good food. And the graduation to table food will be smooth and easy. Our locally grown promise
gives you the peace of mind in knowing that every ingredient on your baby’s plate can be traced back to the field where it was grown.

WHY ORGANIC and/or LOCAL?

Feeding your baby with organic food is a good way to ensure that their diet is nutritious and wholesome. This is because organic babyfood contains less fillers, less added sugar and no artificial flavourings. In addition the ingredients are organically grown which means your baby will be protected from exposure to pesticides. From conception until one year of age, children are at their most vulnerable and pesticides have been found to bind fat, which once absorbed may stay in the body for a lifetime.
As an extra benefit, a breastfeeding mother should try and eat an organic diet. This is because pesticides can be transferred from mother to baby through breast milk. Eating an organic diet whilst breastfeeding is the best thing you can do to ensure a healthy babies diet.

Baby nutrition is so essential. One of the single, most important things you can do is ensure organic food plays a major part in your baby's diet during the early stages of life. During this critical stage of development, cells are multiplying quickly but the body has a limited diet to draw upon. Immature organs and bodily systems respond differently to food – a small child’s digestive system is more efficient than that of an adult at absorbing foods, enabling nutrients to be used more quickly but making children more vulnerable to toxins. It is for this reason that baby food is covered by special legislation. Preservatives, colourings and added salt are forbidden because babies cannot process them with their under developed digestive systems
