At Fresh from Eden we teach you how to make your baby's food using the freshest ingredients possible. By eating ingredients which are grown close to home, they correlate into the most vitamins packed for your baby. The farther produce must travel to its final destination, the more depleted its nutrients become. The average item found in the produce section of the grocery store travels 1,500 miles! Of course, there are some items which are not grown locally if local growers don't have something available that are on our menus; in this case, we try to find the closest source for them.
Our menus rotate with the seasons, as produce becomes ripe off the farms. You won’t find butternut squash in the middle of July nor will you find peaches in January. We are committed to local, seasonal foods which helps our earth and our bodies from additional pollutants.
Foods which are grown with chemicals do damage to our kidneys and liver, from processing the chemicals out and keeping the nutrients. It is always best to buy local, organic foods.
No added salt or sugar.
We do not use sodium or sugar in our foods. Sodium is a natural mineral which is in breastmilk and formula. However, salt that is added for flavor is very difficult on baby and toddler’s renal systems. It is recommended for children less than 1 year to consume less than 1 gram of sodium per day and no more than 2 grams for children ages 1- 3 years. Babies are not born with sweet tooths, it is learned by adding sugars to sweeten foods.
